On August 29, 2009, the First Capital Federal Credit Union celebrated the Grand Opening of its new Branch Office located just south of York. Henderson Construction Services was the design-build firm for this energy efficient, environmentally friendly structure. The project was registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) with the goal of achieving a Gold rating under the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. The new building features natural lighting of work areas, geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater capture, a white roof to counteract the “heat island” effect, exceptional
building insulation, and landscaping with native vegetation, among other innovations.
